Description

  • Several years of experience in program or project management, development and implementation of information systems preferably in health information technology or a health care setting
  • Understanding of health information technologies, systems or standards [e.g., electronic health records (EHRs), health information exchanges (HIE), direct messaging, etc.], and information technology design, development and implementation
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written), and ability to work with diverse groups both inside and outside of state government
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office and other related software.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle and/or agile development helpful
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing requirements and priorities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, experience with client service/consulting, functional/system analysis a plus
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task

Job Summary:

  • Develop and coordinate public health informatics initiatives within RIDOH and with the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS)’s HIT team.
  • Assess agency, stakeholder, and end user information and technology needs. Develop and implement approaches to meet the identified stakeholder needs in collaboration with the other EOHHS agencies and RIDOH programs, to meet shared informatics goals
  • Lead efforts to increase interoperability between RIDOH and other information systems including working with the state’s Health Information Exchange (HIE) Organization on bidirectional flow of data between the HIE and RIDOH (i.e., public health laboratory test results, KIDSNET, the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System).

Desired Profile:

  • Project manage and serve as primary point of contact for the implementation of the recommendations related to streamlining information sharing during transitions of care (ToC)
  • Drive ToC use case alignment, implementation, and ongoing coordination
  • Convene regular meetings of the ToC stakeholder workgroups to monitor progress implementing the recommendations and to work on any additional use cases
  • Monitor progress of hospitals, community providers, long term care facilities (LTCs), RI Quality Institute (RIQI), and others in implementing recommendations
  • Provide operational and administrative support to this project as well as other health information technology (HIT) related projects including developing, managing and updating the project plan, identifying project risk and mitigation strategies, escalating issues as needed, and identifying project successes
